| قصة البخيل المغرور
كان غضبان رجلاً غنياً, لكنه مغرور لذلك فإن الجميع كانوا يخافونه لسوء خلقه, وبينما كان يسير في السوق ذات يوم اصطدم برجل يحمل على ظهره جرة كبيرة مليئة بالصباغ, فاختل توازن الرجل, فسقطت الجرة على الأرض وانكسرت فسال منها الصباغ و تلوثت ثياب غضبان.
فلما رأى غضبان ما حصل انهال ضرباً على الرجل المسكين, والرجل المسكين يعتذر منه ويستغيث بالناس, ولكن أحداً لم يجرؤ على نصرته لأنهم يخافون غضبان, ولكن أحد المارة سمع صراخ الرجل المسكين وكان اسمه كريم .
فأسرع لنجدة الرجل, فأمسك غضبان بقوة وقال له: اترك الرجل فإنه سيموت بين يديك, ماذا فعل حتى تضربه بهذه الوحشية ؟.
فقال له غضبان: لقد أتلف هذا الأحمق ثوبي الجديد بالصباغ, فقال له كريم: لقد حدث ذلك دون قصد, واختر حلاً يرضيك لننهي هذه المسألة. فأجابه غضبان: عليه أن يدفع ثمن ثوبي. فقال له كريم: حسناً وكم ثمنه؟ فقال غضبان: مائة دينار ذهبي. فأخذ الرجل المسكين يبكي لأنه لا يملك ولا عشرة دراهم فكيف بمائة دينار.
فقال كريم لغضبان: حسناً, لك ما تريد. فأعطاه المال وفرح غضبان لأن الثوب لا يساوي هذا المبلغ.
وعندما هم غضبان بالذهاب استوقفه كريم وقال له: ولكني أريد الثوب الذي اشتريته بمائة دينار, فأجابه غضبان: حسناً سأذهب إلى البيت لأخلعه لك.
فقال له كريم: بل أريد الثوب الآن. احتار غضبان ماذا يفعل فهو يريد المال, ولكنه لا يستطيع أن يخلع الثوب في السوق وبين الناس.
فقال لكريم: حسناً سأشتري منك الثوب بمائة دينار. فأجابه كريم: إما أن تخلع الثوب الآن أو تدفع مائتي دينار ثمناً له أو أن تعتذر للرجل المسكين أمام الناس وتقبل يده وتعطيه خمسين دينار. ولأن غضبان كان بخيلاً وجباناً, فضل أن يعتذر من الرجل المسكين ويقبل يده وأن يعطيه خمسين دينار وأن يظفر بالخمسين الأخرى, وبذلك تم تعويض الرجل المسكين.
